Eliquis contains the active ingredient apixaban, which is a type of medicine called an anti-thrombotic. It is used to stop blood clots forming within the blood vessels.
Eliquis is used to prevent blood clots from forming in veins, as well as treating blood clots in the veins of legs and lungs of those suffering from vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism.
